Carbon Capture & Sequestration

Energy Investment for Louisiana’s Future

The development of carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) is a critical part of Louisiana’s energy and economic strategy. LFEI advocates for an all-of-the-above energy approach that leverages Louisiana’s unique geological advantages, experienced workforce and extensive industrial infrastructure to attract investment, create jobs and strengthen local economies.

CCS projects, including the capture of CO₂ emissions and their safe transportation and storage in underground salt domes, deep saline aquifers, and other qualified formations, generate significant resident income and local tax revenues while extending the viability of Louisiana’s energy, industrial and manufacturing sectors. Rejecting or adding uncertainty to CCS risks forfeiting substantial economic opportunities, undermines the state’s competitive advantage and could shift investment to neighboring states.
